Actor Monica Bedi may have indicated that she is ready to start life afresh and without husband Abu Salem – but the jailed underworld don has expressed great happiness at her release from prison.
Actress Monica Bedi walked out free today after being released from a court in Hyderabad. Bedi was granted bail by court on Tuesday (July 24) in the fake passport case, by the Special CBI court after the Supreme Court relaxed her bail condition.
Coming out of prison, Monica Bedi told reporters that she had “learnt a lot” from her time in jail. “It will help me in my future – I have become a much stronger person. Earlier I was a person who used to trust everyone – I thought everybody is nice in the world, you know, but I have learnt that it is not so and that I have to be careful in life,” said Bedi.
In contrast – highly placed sources have told TIMES NOW that when Salem heard his wife had walked out of prison a free bird, he told his lawyer that he was hoping to meet with her soon. He also said that he was very happy that she was out and in fact expected it, as he had great faith in the Indian Judiciary.
Salem is believed to have said, “I am very happy that Monica has got bail” and also that, “God willing”, he would meet her soon.
Monica Bedi was extradited along with her companion, Gangster Abu Salem from Portugal in 2005, and was sentenced to five years imprisonment. The sentence was later reduced to 3 years by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The apex court had given the court in Hyderabad the green signal to accept Monica’s affidavit in lieu of the passport that was required to be submitted with the court in Mumbai for release on grant of bail.
