Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot reiterated that pub culture would not be allowed to be promoted in the state.
On the sidelines of a Congress meet here, Gehlot took a dig at the previous BJP regime which, he said, allowed liquor shops to mushroom all over the state and even in shopping malls.
The CM slammed “pub culture” and said he was “against boys and girls walking hand-in-hand in pubs and malls.
“We have ordered closure of shops near temples and parks. The effort made to bring the young generation closer to the liquor culture will be reversed. I want to end the pub and mall culture where young boys and girls roam about hand-in-hand,” said Ashok Gehlot the chief minister of Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan government has also raised the tax on liquor from 12.5 to 20 per cent. The travel trade facing major losses due to global meltdown claims the hike will cripple tourism which employs nearly 15 per cent people in Rajasthan.
