Miss World 2009 : Meet Miss India-World Pooja Chopra

Miss India-World 2009 Pooja Chopra will vie for the Miss World-2009 crown along with 111 other contestants from across the world at the gala pageant at Johannesburg in South Africa this Saturday.

Hopes are riding high on Pooja given that several Indian beauties have clinched the prestigious title in the past. Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mookhey and Priyanka Chopra have all been crowned Miss World in years past.

Even as 112 gorgeous beauties from across the world prepare themselves for the Miss World 2009 pageant to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, India’s eyes will be trained on Pune girl Pooja Chopra who is India’s latest ambassador at this beauty platform.

Unlike most beauty queens that one imagines to have lived lives of comfort and luxury, Pooja Chopra has experienced life in its stark hues right from a tender age. Practically disowned by her philandering father, she was raised by a single mother who struggled to make ends meet.

However, Pooja emerged to be a bright all-rounder throughout her school and college years and has been a rage on the modeling circuit for a while now with a host of TV commercials under her belt.

Soon after graduating from Ness Wadia College of Commerce in Pune, she won laurels in a number of local beauty and personality pageants. Soon she became a known face and modelling offers began to pour in.

Pooja has been much in demand on the modelling circuit and has also featured in a number of television commercials. She gained direct entry into the top ten finalists of Pantaloons Femina Miss India-2009 when she clinched the Femina Miss India East crown in Kolkata earlier this year.
